My advice would be to either wait until the following weekend to celebrate, or push through and make the best of it if you have the energy. Especially if it’s a milestone birthday, you might want to save the big party for when people aren’t half-asleep from Monday blues.
The weekend is gone, unfortunately, and there’s no getting it back. You wake up, realize it’s Monday, and instead of sleeping in or planning a fun day, you’re heading to work. Emails, meetings, and deadlines don’t care that it’s your birthday. And if you were hoping for a full day of celebration, well, Monday’s not the day for it. Hopefully at least HR and your boss can appreciate your birthday and at least give you a $50 gift card to your favorite restaurant.
Still, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy yourself. Bring a little cake to the office, grab dinner after work, or plan something small to make the day feel special. The big celebration can wait until the weekend, but at least you’ll have something to look forward to while you survive the Monday grind.
